Exploring Creativity...
When I first met Ashmarie, I didn't expect we'd be producing our own films. A wonderful, honest and sincere relationship, sure! But this spiraling creativity completely caught me by surprise. We've faced so many ups & downs, changes and tragedies as a couple in our short time together, that it was almost a physical need to express these feelings somehow. When she introduced me to a local film festival, the Lusca Short Film Fest, it was dice in the mirror. Lagrimas de Astilla, or "Splinter Tears", is heavily based on personal experience and ideals.
I had studied Communications & Marketing with a focus on Film, in College. We had only worked on a handful of films, back then, and I can tell you many of the students were just in it for the grade. It's only natural I gained great admiration and respect for our main Exec Producer, Freddy Hernandez Mayo at that time, because he had such a vision and a passion for his project, "5PM". Getting cogs moving in the wheel, making shit happen, that was his thing.
Editor & Sound Engineer Bryan Ferrer was the next crazy thing to set this idea in motion. Talented, ridiculously avant-garde, and at times, seemingly fearless; we met and began producing music together, collaborating on different projects. When he took the leap into music video and opened his Youtube channel, Noisy Atticus, it was like witnessing his calling. "Selma & Kimono" was a sweet hybrid of a silent, musical Short FIlm. It's been nothing but a pleasure working with Bry and creating a deep bond and friendship.
I'm not spiritual, possibly at all, but I dare say I feel blessed to know this group of inspirational, talented people. Please, check out the Talent & Crew section to get to know them. And keep your eyes open! Everyone around you has the potential to surprise and inspire you!
